Diane Rae Iverson
Diane Rae Iverson, 74 passed away peacefully and comfortably at her home on January 3, 2021, from complications of lung and heart disease. She was born in Ripon on April 17, 1946, to Felix and Dolores (Ziebell) Scharschmidt and was baptized and confirmed in St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Markesan. Diane grew up on the home farm by little Green Lake and attended Markesan High School where she graduated in 1964. She had a deep love for animals, especially horses, goats, and ferrets. She was a talented mother, artist, seamstress, and cook. After graduation, she worked for Advertisers Manufacturing Co. in Ripon before moving to Milwaukee where she worked for Jack Winter Inc. until she met the love of her life and married Gary L. Iverson on September 25, 1973. In 1979, they came back to Markesan, built, and settled into their home in the woods by little Green Lake close to Felix and Dolores. She worked as a cook for The Stetson Inn (the old Lanterns), The Little Corporal (in Green Lake), and Lake View Inn for many years. Her favorite pastimes were adding bling to anything that didn’t move and attending the Midwest Horse Fair in Madison each year where she met many, many new fiends from around the country and world.
Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Gary, on June 25, 2014, her parents, in-laws, and infant brother, James Peter.
She is survived by her sons, James (Cindy) Iverson Sr. of Waupun and Joseph Iverson of Markesan, grandchild Dana and James Jr., brother Mike (Rosie) Scharschmidt, sister, Gayle (Wayne) Schultz, both of Markesan and sister, Linda (Richard) Green of Mequon, nieces, Cherie (Patrick) Rupprecht of Randolph, April (Jeff) Westfield of Fox Lake, Sara Schultz of Davison, MI; nephew, Douglas Schultz of Green Bay; grand-nephews, Connor and Merrick Westfield of Fox Lake, and many relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 17, 021, at Markesan Community Funeral Home, 868 North Margaret Street, Markesan.
