In Loving Memory of William "Willie" Zacho
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William "Willie" Zacho, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and a pillar of the fishing world and Cambria community. Willie departed this world on January 1st, 2024, at the age of 66, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth and a “passion” that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born and raised in St. Michael’s, Wisconsin, Willie was a beloved son, brother, and friend. His deep love for family was evident in the life he built alongside his wife, Janelle Zacho. Together, they celebrated over two decades of marriage, facing life's challenges hand in hand and sharing countless moments of joy.
Willie was a proud father to seven children, each of whom he loved unconditionally. Brian (Kristy) Zacho of Cambria, Jennifer (Randy) Quade of Arbor Vitae, Kristopher Zacho of Oshkosh, Stephanie Pearson of Oshkosh, Rev. Matthew Pearson of Janesville, Evelyn (Kye) Leystra of Friesland, and Tyler (Abbey Walter) Zacho of Mequon brought immeasurable joy and fulfillment to his life. His legacy extends further through his eight adored grandchildren: Collin (Aubrey Anderson) Quade, Camille Quade, Carter Quade, Cale Quade, Brayden Zacho, Kerick Zacho, Asher Zacho, and Madisyn Zacho, each of whom he cherished deeply.
Willie is also survived by his loving sister Carol and (Mark “Eli”) Gaffke of Wabeno. His two nieces Kim (Tom) Dudarenke of Lomira and Nicole (Paul) Monet of Cedarburg. He loved spending time with them and spent many hours on the phone with Carol.
Family was the heartbeat of Willie's life, and his dedication to their happiness was unwavering. Whether casting a line in South Gull Lake, Ontario, cheering on his favorite sports teams or drivers, or sharing a meal around the family table, Willie found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. His love for fishing, his dogs, “Johnny and Sandy,” and the neighborhood squirrels and birds became not only hobbies but staples of his retired life. Those that know Willie knew that he was a caring, loving person that would tell it to you straight, and if he disagreed you may see that “passion” he had. As he grew older that passion and the stories that came from it brought the Zacho family even closer together.
Willie's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His kindness, generosity, and love for life will be missed, but the impact he made on the lives of his family and friends will endure through the stories shared and the love he leaves behind. He literally lit up the room with his one liners and great storytelling ability.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Markesan Community Funeral Home from 4:00 - 7:30 pm with a eulogy occurring at 7:30 pm. The funeral service and burial will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Doylestown on Saturday, January 6 at 11:00am. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a local Humane Society in his name or by giving monetary donations which will be put toward fishing events for our youth in the area in Willie’s honor.
The family wants to thank each of you that have reached out and have supported them through this tough and unexpected time. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love and memories he created throughout his remarkable life. We love you Willie!
