William "Bill" Henry Cruckson

William Henry “Bill” Cruckson passed away at the age of 81 Monday, June 25, at his home on Hwy B in Dalton, WI.

Bill was born on May 1, 1937 to Emerson and Lettie Cruckson in Dalton, WI. He married Jane Packard of Portage in 1957. They lived on the homestead in Dalton and had 4 daughters.
The result of an industrial accident moved the family to CO in 1976, where Bill completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Sciences. They moved to Dodge City, KS in 1977, where he took a teaching position in Diesel Mechanics at Dodge City Community College.

In 1983, the girls all out of school, Jane and Bill took up the life of travelers as independent owner operators of a semi-truck driving across the country for 15 years.

Bill and Jane established a retirement residence back at the homestead where Bill drove locally until he retired from the road in 2007, at the age of 70. He invested his retirement into his community through the American Legion where he was both the Post and District Commander as well as a member and President of the Dalton Seniors Association.

Bill is survived by his wife Jane (Packard) Cruckson of Dalton, 4 daughters; Jackie and Dale Stambaugh of Muskegon, MI, Julie & Richard Barth of Augusta, KS, Sally & David Bishop of Lubbock, TX, Sindy & Michael Horn of Montague, MI, 6 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 4 great-granddaughters, 1 great-grandson and his brother Fred Cruckson of Fond du Lac, WI.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, June 29, 2018, at the George Thompson American Legion Hall of Kingston, with Pastor Brenda Grams officiating. Military honors to follow provided by American Legion Post #395.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held from 3:00-5:00 P.M on Friday, June 29, 2018, at the George Thompson American Legion Hall of Kingston
