Virginia (Hughes) Laper passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018, at her home in Markesan, WI from a long struggle with AML.
Virginia was born on August 19, 1941, in Berlin, WI, the daughter of Nathan and Marjorie (Kroll) Hughes. She graduated from Berlin High School in 1959. Shortly after graduating, she was united in marriage to James Norton. They enjoyed 12 years of marriage before James and their lovely daughter died in an accident in 1973.
On July 7, 1995, Virginia married James Laper of Markesan, WI. They had a very happy life, living in Palma Sola, FL in the winter and Eagle River, WI and Markesan in the summer.
Virginia is survived by her two brothers, Jim (Donna) Hughes of Cable, WI and John (Debbie) Hughes of Oregon; and her two step-sons, Jeffrey Laper of Madison, WI and Joel Laper (Alan Baumgarten) of Neenah, WI; two brothers-in-law, Richard (Carol) Laper of Markesan and Donald (Carol) Laper of Windsor, WI and many friends.
Virginia wants you all to remember life is a wonderful journey through the hills and the valleys-leaving pleasant memories of family and friends. Please take time to cherish your loved ones and spread a little kindness to those around you.
A private family graveside funeral will be held later at the Phelps Cemetery.
