Timothy Dan Auchtung

July 31, 1958 — November 2, 2024

Timothy Dan Auchtung, brother, father, grandpa, and friend to so many, peacefully left this world with his children by his side on Saturday, the 2nd of November 2024.

Tim was born on July 31, 1958, the son of Leonard and Joanne (Klemme) Auchtung.

Tim was an avid outdoorsman.  Whether hunting, fishing, or cultivating the garden he was so proud of, Tim was at home in the out of doors.

Tim was a motorsports enthusiast.  From raising hell in his younger days with his Mach 1 Mustang, to later cruising on his Harley; watching NASCAR races in his recliner, to attending truck and tractor pulls; laying some rubber down with his truck on a whim, to more recently enjoying his UTV with his grandkids, Tim was always fond of horsepower.

Tim was a cook, and he loved hosting family gatherings at his home.  Frying the Thanksgiving turkey out in his garage and watching the grandkids open presents under the Christmas tree they cut down together were things he looked forward to year after year.

But who Tim was most was a family man.  He showed that as much in his actions as he did in his words.  To that end, Tim gave more than 40 years of his life to building a career at the current Seneca Foods canning factory.  A career that he used to provide for his family.  To build a new home, to make sure that his children never went without, and to provide family vacations for his children and grandchildren.  Tim's pride and joy were his grandkids.  He was proud of them more than words could express and he wanted the world to know it.  Being tagged in a grandchild’s picture on social media was one of the greatest gifts he could receive.  He will forever live on through them and in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Tim is survived by his Son, Travis (Kristin) Auchtung; Daughter, Lindsay (Jared) Bishop; the mother of his children, Cynthia Yelk; six grandchildren, Kyla, Mazie, Langston and Laikyn Bishop; Hayes and McKinley Auchtung; siblings, Lenny (Diane) Auchtung, Connie (Steve) Polinsky, Cameron Auchtung, Jackie Auchtung, Geri Auchtung, Mike (Julie) Auchtung, and Butch “Rory” Auchtung; cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Armand Auchtung and sister, Julie Alsum.

Those that wish to attend are welcome to join the Family for a committal service at Salemville Cemetery on Friday, November the 8th, 2024, at 1:00 pm.  A processional will leave the Markesan Community Funeral Home, 868 N. Margaret Street in Markesan, at 12:30 pm.

All who Knew and loved Tim are encouraged to attend a celebration of life gathering at the Cambria Fire Department, 702 Elizabeth Street in Cambria, WI, at 2:30pm on Friday the 8th following the service.  The family welcomes you to come enjoy a late lunch and a cold “brewski” as Tim would say, and to laugh and tell stories with friends and family.  The family requests casual attire.  Work boots and ball caps are how Tim was most comfortable.  In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up at Farmers and Merchants Union Bank to disperse memorials into the continuing education accounts that Tim previously set up and routinely contributed to for each of his grandchildren.
