Princeton

Thomas Lynn Alf, age 70 of Princeton, WI, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024, at the Markesan Resident Home.

Tom was born on July 7, 1954, in Berlin, a son of Alfred and Margaret (Bloch)Alf. He was united in marriage to Nancy Hoffman on August 26, 1978, in Berlin at St. Stanislaus Parish. Tom and Nancy had resided in Ripon for over 40 years before settling in the Princeton area, where he embraced the beauty and solitude of the outdoors and wildlife. Tom found great pleasure in trap shooting, enjoying the camaraderie amongst his team mates and fellow trap league members.

Tom dedicated over 25 years of his life to Frito Lay as a route driver. His professional life was marked by his hardworking spirit and commitment to excellence. Beyond his career, Tom is remembered for his joyful personality and profound love for his family and friends. As a fun dad, grandfather and uncle it was not unusual to find him building a snow fort in winter, spraying it with the colors of his favorite team, the Packers. In summer he would build a caravan of wagons filled with neighborhood kids and travel up and down the nearby streets. He enjoyed gardening and making things grow, including somehow magically growing donuts from cheerios seeds for his grandsons. He cherished the moments spent with his two daughters, Jenny and Lynsey and their families and took great joy and pride in them. Tom’s outgoing nature made him a friend to many and a trusted neighbor who was always ready to lend a helping hand.

Tom is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy, two daughters, Jenny (Justin) Hansen and Lynsey (Jeff) Goodroad. His four grandchildren, Braden and Kyan Hansen, Adri Tauer and Harper Goodroad; two brothers, Dennis (Mary) Alf and Curt (Tammy Hage) Alf and his brother-in-law, Pete Knigge, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will fondly remember him for his kind heart and generous spirit.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Theo Knigge. His legacy of warmth, and the joy he brought to those he knew will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, with more details to follow. Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to the Berlin Conservation Club W898 Whiteridge Road, Berlin, WI 54923 or The Princeton Rod and Gun Club N5579 Lock Road Princeton, WI, 54968.
