Ruth A. Schrank, age 87 passed away on Feb. 10, 2024.

Ruth and her twin sister Rose were born on a very hot day, above their parent’s cheese factory in Leipsig, WI on August 18th, 1936 to Walter and Frances Neumann.

She was a 1954 Waupun High School graduate and 1957 Milwaukee School Hospital of Nursing Graduate.  She proceeded to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Ruth enjoyed an extensive career in nursing in a variety of roles including being a nurse at the Schrank Clinic in Waupun, Waupun Hospital Nursing Administrator, Waupun Christian Home Nursing Administrator, Nurse’s Aide Instructor at MPTC and staff nurse at Columbus Health and Rehab.

She was very proud to be one of the first alderwomen to be elected to the Waupun City Council and the first woman to serve as a board member of the Fond Du Lac Lutheran Home.  Ruth had been an active church leader at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupun, City of Waupun poll worker and volunteer in her community.

Ruth enjoyed traveling, bird watching and reading.  She could always tell you what type of bird was at her feeder and always had a recommendation for a good book to read.  She also liked having a glass of wine or two and spending time at the cottage on Tuttle Lake.

She is survived by her daughters Vicky Farley (Rick) and Ann Berlon (David), grandson Jason Farley (special friend Kelly), her twin sister Rose Lehnherr, niece Lori Lehnherr and nephews Craig Lehnherr (Joanne) and Kurt Lehnherr, her step-children and their families: Helaine Baldwin, Ray Schrank (Barb), Wanda Schrank (Mike), Bill Schrank (Debbie) and her special friend Jack Warber.  She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Raymond E. Schrank, her parents, her step mom Wilma (Krause) Neumann, her sister Sylvia Neumann, her brother-in-law Jim Lehnherr, her step-children Donna Houdek, Sondra Schrank and Julie Kindschuh.

Ruth loved the medical profession.  She donated her body to UW Medical School so that others may learn.

The family thanks Prairie Ridge staff and Heartland Hospice for their tremendous care and compassion for Ruth.
