Roger Allen Herpel, age 82 of Randolph, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Randolph Health Services.
Roger was born on September 17, 1934, a son of Harley and Wanda (Miller) Herpel. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1963. On November 14, 1959 he was united in marriage to Barbara Meister. Roger was a banker in the Randolph area for a number of years. He owned his own business, “Bobbye Vending” for 30 years and was known as the “Candy Man.” Roger enjoyed his visits at Walker’s in Beaver Dam. He was a member of the Robert Frankenstein Amvets, Post 33 of Beaver Dam. Roger was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, an usher and served on the church council for many years.
Roger is survived by two sons, Todd Herpel of West Bend and Randy (Caroline) Herpel of Randolph; 11 grandchildren and great grandchilden; a brother, Howie (Dixie) Herpel of Florida; Special friend, “Geno” nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his parents; a brother, Lamonte (Cheryl) Herpel and a sister, Donna (Tom) Foley.
Visitation for Roger will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 311 West Mackie Street, Beaver Dam.
A memorial service for Roger will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Terry Larson officiating. Inurnment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion, Post 146 of Beaver Dam.
A memorial fund has been established in Roger’s name.
