Robert “Bob” Frei

Robert Luther Frei, age 92 of Markesan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Markesan Resident Home.

Robert was born on August 5, 1926, in the Township of Green Lake to John and Elsa (Bielke) Frei. On June 26, 1946, he was united in marriage to Shirley Wilsnack at the Markesan Methodist Church. He graduated from Brandon High School in 1944. Bob lived and worked on the family farm all his life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, playing cards and dancing. Bob served on the Green Lake Town Board for 26 years and on the Markesan School District Board for 6 years. He was a lifetime member of Markesan Methodist Church.

He is survived by his companion, Beverly Lange of Horicon; son, Craig (Marianne) Frei of Markesan; daughter-in-law, Suellen (Rick) Johnson of Sullivan; five grandchildren, Joel (Theresa) Frei of Fairwater, Jami (Billy) Huston of Niceville, FL, Kelly (Barclay) Laux of Kenosha, Ryan Frei and Kevin Frei both of Markesan; four great grandchildren, Andrew Fairchild, Dylan Laux, Alexander Huston and Isabella Huston; one sister, Phyllis (Ray) Butros of New Mexico; sister-in-law, Grace Frei of Appleton; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, son, Gahl Frei and brother, Frederick (Avis) Frei and two sisters, Grace (Ross) Hazlewood and Ruth (Gerald) Ott.

Visitation for Robert will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Markesan United Methodist Church, 74 East Catherine Street, Markesan.

A funeral service for Robert will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at church with Pastor Kyochul Shin officiating. A private burial will take place at Markesan Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial fund has been directed to the Markesan United Methodist Church or Southern Care Hospice.

The family would like to thank the Markesan Resident Home and Southern Care Hospice for their compassionate care of Bob.
