Otto Erwin Zills, age 88 of rural Waupun, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at the Waupun Memorial Hospital with family at his side.
Otto was born on March 29, 1930, in the town of Oakfield, son of Ernest and Mathilda (Kollman) Zills. He attended Lowell School in the Town of Oakfield, Lone Oak School in the Town of Byron and Oakfield High School. Otto lived and farmed in the Town of Byron near Oakfield. Otto married Amber Mielke on May 19, 1956, in Waupun. In 1961, they moved to Waupun and farmed and raised St Bernard dogs. He was Supervisor for the town of Trenton for many years, on the Board at the Farmer’s Elevator, and an elder for many years at the church.
Otto is survived by his wife Amber of 62 years; son, Clete (Charlene) Zills of Waupun; three granddaughters; Courtney, Candis, and Christal; special friends, Betty (Don) Lange; other family members; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Archie; two sisters, Ruth Batterman and Delores Malzhan; sister-in-law, Marie Zills; two brothers-in-law, Neil Batterman, Marvin Malzhan; three nephews, and one niece.
Visitation for Otto will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun and Thursday, February 14th 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., at Pella Lutheran Church, 315 Madison Street, Waupun.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 14th at 11:00 A.M. at church with Pastor David Knuth. Burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
