Norman Jess Froehlich

Norman Jess Froehlich, age 93 of Cambria, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at his home with family by his side.

Norman was born on June 19, 1930, in Randolph, Wisconsin, the son of Jess and Bertha (Kowald) Froehlich. He was united in marriage to Emily Jansma on June 3, 1955, in East Friesland. Norman served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. Farming was a huge part of Norman’s life. He started farming as a young boy with his grandfather and continued to farm until he no longer could. Norman sold seed corn from 1972-2018 and planted corn until 2019, always making sure that the rows were straight. He served on the Cambria-Friesland school board for two terms and served on the church council at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Norman is survived by his loving wife, Emily Froehlich of Cambria; children, Linda (John) Smedema of Beaver Dam, Gary (Loretta) Froehlich of Cambria and Terry (Linda) Froehlich of Dalton; grandchildren, Erik Smedema, Miranda (Joel) Crawford, Danielle (Casey) Whyte, Melinda Froehlich, Makayla (Brad) Resop, Dawn Froehlich, Rachel Froehlich, Jared Froehlich, Joel Froehlich and Jonathan Froehlich; four great grandchildren, Emily, Addison, Aveah and Henry with one on the way in March; brother, Donald Froehlich and sister, Marion Jacobson. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Audrey (Bill) Rupnow; sisters-in-law, Lois Froehlich, Jenny VanderGalien, Tina Zuehls and Cora Wiersma; brothers-in-law, Jake Jacobson, Herman and Carl Jansma.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 101 First St, Friesland, WI 53935.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor John Hildebrandt officiating. Burial will follow at Friesland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be established in Norman’s name to Loaves and Fishes, N7602 Edgewater Drive, Beaver Dam, WI 53916.
