Milton Jerome Schears, age 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 21, 2025, after a battle with dementia, at The Meadows of Fall River.
Milton was born on January 11, 1942, in Waupun, son of Richard “Dick”and Margaret (Pater) Schears. Milt was a graduate of Waupun High School in 1960. He received an Honorable discharge as a Gunner/Sharpshooter of the Army National Guard in Ft Lewis, Washington in 1965. It was here where Milt became a barber on the side to earn a little extra cash. He continued cutting hair of many family members when he returned.
On February 6, 1964, he and his wife (Linda) welcomed their daughter Margaret (Margie) into the world. Milt worked at John Deere in Horicon, in addition to starting a hobby farm raising beef cattle in Waupun. It was not unusual to see him bring calves home in the back of an old Mercades. Milt also had a love for music. Many of his family & friends had the pleasure of hearing him play his harmonica or accordion. He was a hit for the residents at The Meadows.
For approximately 29 yrs, Milt resided in Buena Vista, CO where he found his love of wood working (clocks, jewelry boxes), carpentry work, and building 2 homes. In his last 13 years, Milt moved back to WI, and cherished time with family and friends. He was a very proud Grandpa of 2 & Great Grandpa of 4. Stories around his love for hunting and fishing he made sure to pass along to his family.
