Mildred Emma Rohrschneider, age 99 of Markesan, formerly of Brandon, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Markesan Resident Home.
Mildred was born in the township of Oakfield, August 23, 1917, a daughter of Henry and Adela (Lohaus) Wiese. She started working as a cook at the Hillcrest School for Girls in Beaver Dam when she was just a young woman, where she fine tuned her baking skills. There she met her future husband, Melvin Rohrschneider. On December 27, 1941, they were united in marriage. After Melvin returned from the Army they lived in Beaver Dam for a short time before moving to the Brandon area. They worked on 4 different farms in and around Brandon and Waupun. Mildred and Melvin lived in the village of Brandon for many years. Millie started working at R-Line Foods in the late 1950’s on the cranberry relish line and then moved to the meat department where she stayed for over 30 years. She was affectionately known as the “Doughnut Lady” for the 1000’s of raised doughnuts she made for family, friends and anyone in the community that called. Millie also made cut-out holiday cookies for many people. She was the baker of the homemade cookies for the Blood Bank in Ripon for 25 years, it was something she truly enjoyed doing. Millie was a hard working, very loving, generous person, she was a wonderful mom, grandma, great-grandma and great-great-grandma. She remained a sweet and gentle soul to the end. She will be missed.
