Lawrence Gene Kok, age 75 of Randolph, went to join the heavenly men’s chorus on Saturday, February 17, 2018, surrounded by his family at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI.
Larry was born on February 2, 1943, in Friesland, WI, a son of William and Martha (Stiemsma) Kok. Larry graduated from Cambria High School in 1961. On July 31, 1965, he was united in marriage to Kathy Vander Werff at the First Reformed Church in Randolph. Larry worked in machine maintenance at John Deere in Horicon for 32 years. He was an avid outdoorsman; fishing, deer hunting and turkey hunting. He was a devoted grandfather and loved watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and musical concerts. Larry was a member of First Reformed Church and served as a Deacon and a Sunday school superintendent. He sang in the church choir, many quartets and was also a member of the Friesland Men’s Chorus.
Larry is survived by his wife, Kathy of Randolph; three children, Gary (Kellie) Kok of Mequon, Kimberlee DeLorme of Brodhead and Karalee Kok of Fall River; eight grandchildren, Josh (Gloria), Zach, Jeshua, Josiah, Kallistin, Billy, Kaycee and Maddie; four siblings, Rodney (Sandra) Kok of Cambria, Gene (Tammy) Kok of Hazelhurst, Jim (Gena) Kok of Cambria and Brenda (Alan) TeBrink of Durango, CO; a sister-in-law, Doris Kok of Fox Lake; four brothers-in-law, Wayne (Donna) Tavs of Waupun, Larry Westra of Beaver Dam, Ken (Eloise) Vander Werff of Reedsburg and Lenny (Cathy) Vander Werff of Pardeeville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Byron Kok; two sisters, Marilyn Tavs and Judy Westra; parents-in-law, George and Charlotte Vander Werff and a brother-in-law, Steve Vander Werff.
Visitation for Larry will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at First Reformed Church, 406 South High Street, Randolph.
A funeral service for Larry will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at church with Rev. Alan TeBrink officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Cemetery. Larry served in the U.S. Air force and military honors will be performed by the Randolph VFW Post 9510.
Memorials may be directed to the First Reformed Church or the Friesland Men’s Chorus.
