Joyce Marie Schultz, 94, passed away on August 16, 2023 at Anna’s House in Markesan. She was born in Fond du Lac, WI on April 22, 1929 to Frank and Ruth (Rothgery) Koschnick. This ‘big city’ girl met a farm boy named Sheldon Schultz at a roller-skating rink. They fell in love and married in Fond du Lac on September 25, 1948. Sheldon swept her off her feet and carried her to the farm southeast of Markesan where she became a farm wife. Joyce worked as a cook at Mackford Prairie School when she wasn’t helping Sheldon run the farm. She loved to crochet and do a variety of crafts in her free time. In retirement, she and Sheldon loved to travel and spent time in Florida and travelled with in-laws in their motorhome around the country.
Joyce is survived by a son Wayne (Gayle) Schultz of Markesan, grandchildren Sara Schultz of Clarkston, MI, Douglas Schultz of Green Bay, WI and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Sheldon in 2006, brothers Kenneth Koschnick and Wilfred (Mae) Koschnick of Fond du Lac, sisters Genivieve (Raymond) Goede of Fond du Lac and Ruth (Jack) Lowry of Illinois.
Visitation for Joyce Schultz will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 9:30am to 11am at County Line Lutheran Church, W10505 County Rd AW, Markesan, WI 53946, followed by the service at 11am with Rev. David Abuya officiating. Burial will be in Mackford Union Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the Markesan Resident Home for making her last few years happy with new friends and neighbors and Anna’s House for the love and compassion they’ve shown her over the last several months. You all are truly angels.
