Jon Clarence Lueck, age 82 of Kingston, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, March 11, 2021, following a battle with kidney disease.
Jon was born on October 2, 1938, son of Clarence “Tillie” and Edna “Peg” (Bender) Lueck. Jon was born on opening weekend of duck hunting, in Kingston. He was baptized on November 27, 1938, at Zion Lutheran Church in Kingston and confirmed on June 1, 1952, at St John’s Lutheran Church in Salemville. Jon graduated from Markesan High School, class of 1957, and enlisted in the Air Nation Guard and the Reserve of the United States Air Force in 1957. He played on the 1957 State Baseball team coached by brother-in-law, Don Reif. Jon was united in marriage to Betty Luethe on July 25, 1959, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Markesan. He enjoyed his grand and great grandchildren, especially watching his great granddaughter horseback riding and grandsons play baseball. He was able to attend Fox Cities Stadium to watch his grandsons Landon and Bryce win the 2019 Division 3 WIAA State Runner-up. He owned Lueck Oil Company in Kingston for a number of years and operated The Corner gas station in Markesan. In his later years, he enjoyed helping the Amish with deliveries and transportation. Jon was a founding member of the Badger Horse Show Association in 1970 and had a lifelong love for horses. He was a charter member of the Kingston Lions Club, Kingston Fire Department and Kingston Business Association. Jon was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kingston and served on the church council.
Jon is survived by his wife, Betty Lueck of 61 years; two daughters, Nola (Rich) Siewert of Dalton and Jill (Bernie) Leedle of Markesan; three grandchildren, Pernell (Jill) Jahnke, Landon and Bryce Leedle; two great grandchildren, Cayden and Kaylee Jahnke; sister, Lita Reif; brother-in-law, Gale Bender; sister-in-law, Joan Ehrenberg; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert in infancy; brother, Wayne Lueck; sons-in-law, Jerry Burckhardt and fiancé, Jeff Panten; parents-in-law, Noel and Agnes Luethe; three sisters-in-law, Kay Lueck, Barb Bender and Louise Luethe; three brothers-in-law, Don Reif, Roy Ehrenberg and Russ Luethe; nephew, Timm Bender.
Visitation for Jon will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. on Monday, March 15, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church, 316 Vine Street, Kingston.
A memorial service will follow on Monday at 2:00 P.M. at church with Rev. Kurt Hagen officiating. Burial will take place at Kingston Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Duwane “Sonny” Walker American Legion Post 395 Kingston.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Jon’s name, to be decided at a later date.
