John Hoffman

John Hoffman, age 92 of Randolph passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017, at Waupun Memorial Hospital with family at his side.

John was born on August 18, 1925, to Sam and Elsie (Alsum) Hoffman. As a young adult, he worked 3 years as a hired hand for Andrew Westra, Sr, which he thoroughly enjoyed. On October 30, 1947, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Syens where they lived in Friesland, WI for 2 years. They then moved to their farm on Hwy 73, Randolph, where they lived for the next 28 years. They exchanged farms with their son, Steve in 1977, where they have lived ever since.

He was a lifelong member of the First Randolph Christian Reformed Church, East Friesland. He enjoyed being a member of the Friesland Men’s Chorus for many years. He played pool and horseshoe for many years with friends in the Randolph area.

John is survived by his wife , Evelyn of 70 years; son, Steve (Betty) Hoffman; daughter, June (Robert) Tillema, all of Randolph and daughter, Susan (Robert) Wiersma of Cambria; grandchildren, Rick (Sara) Hoffman, Racine; Mike (Rachel) Hoffman, Randolph; Ryan (Mackenzie) Tillema, Verona; Daniel Tillema and Tyler Tillema, both of Madison; Carissa (Nate) Menefee, Grand Rapids,MN; Kayla (Tyler) Lindert, Beaver Dam; Robyn Wiersma, Cambria; great grandchildren, Emma, Taylor and Troy Hoffman; Elsie and Jolie Hoffman; brothers, Melvin and Ronald (Harriet) Hoffman; sisters, Cora (Brian) Hemp, Caroline Heeringa and Joann (Marvin) Alsum; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James and a stillborn son; sisters, Agnes (Edward) Westra, Tena (William) Dykstra and Eleanor; brothers, Jake (Margie) Hoffman and Carl (Muriel) Hoffman; in-laws, Alice Hoffman, Robert Lemmenes, Norman Heeringa, Peter (Elsie) Syens and Jessie (Harry) DeVries.

Visitation for John will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. on Monday, November 13, 2017, at First Randolph Christian Reformed Church, N8879 East Friesland Road, Friesland and on Tuesday, November 14th at church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.

A funeral service for John will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at First Randolph Christian Reformed Church. Burial to follow at Friesland Cemetery.
