Janet Joyce Kahlhamer, age 91 of Waupun, entered her heavenly home on Monday, January 29, 2018, at the Christian Home in Waupun.
Janet was born on October 17, 1926, in Moline, Illinois, a daughter of Walter and Marie (Whitmore) Brown. On June 5, 1945, she was united in marriage to Clarence Kahlhamer at Calvary Lutheran Church in Moline, IL, following his return from active duty in World War II. She and Clarence farmed near Oak Center, WI, from 1945 to 1973. Janet was employed by the Waupun Memorial Hospital as a cook and food service supervisor, and at Gysbers Grocery Store. She enjoyed fishing and traveling with her husband. Janet was a member of the Oakfield Homemaker’s Group, a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church since 1958 and active in Martha’s Circle at church.
Janet is survived by nine children, Sandra (Jerome) Van Buren of Waupun, Michael (Joanne) Kahlhamer of Eldorado, Daniel Kahlhamer of Oakfield, Richard (Robin) Kahlhamer of Fond du Lac, Kathleen (Bill) Dobey of Tarpon Springs, FL, Walter (Carol) Kahlhamer of Alton, IL, Mary (Dan) Thornton of Fond du Lac, Thomas Kahlhamer of Burlington and Cheryl (Robert) Pater of Waupun; eighteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence in 2004; five brothers, Walter, Leroy, Wilbur, Joseph and Russell Brown and one sister, Mabel West.
Visitation for Janet will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 2, 2018, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 525 West Main Street, Waupun.
A funeral service for Janet will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Jeff Nicla officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Marvin’s Manor-Waupun, Christian Home and SSM Agnesian Hospice for the care and compassion shown to our Mother. A special thank you to Chaplain Dennis Overlien for the many visits and prayers over the past few months.
