James Allen Skalitzky

November 10, 1946 — December 7, 2024

Randolph

Peacefully and surrounded by family, James Allen Skalitzky passed into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the age of 78 years.

First and foremost, James was a follower of Jesus and he would want everyone to know what Jesus meant to him and the beautiful rejoicing and eternal life that awaited him in Heaven. He would want all to know that same eternal hope and salvation is awaiting all those who come to accept Christ in their heart.

James was born on November 10, 1946, in Milwaukee, the son of Allen and Stephanie “Babe” (Janicek) Skalitzky. On October 10, 1981, he was united in marriage to Lisa Kennedy in Beaver Dam. James was a veteran of the United States Army and served a tour in the Vietnam War as a military policeman. James also served in the Peace Corps and volunteered in the country of Somoa.

James was as avid fisherman and spent many years fishing with his daughters, son in law, grandchildren and close friends. He had a passion for reading and the challenge of crossword puzzles, activities that brought him both joy and a sense of accomplishment.

James will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Lisa Skalitzky; daughters, Joanna (Brian whom he affectionately called his “favorite child”) Bonlender and Sandra Skalitzky. James’ favorite role was being the most doting Papa to his four beloved grandchildren, Rowan, Harric, Zander and Vera who were the absolute lights of his life. James will also be remembered by his sister, Ellen Gravning; as well as other relatives and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandsons, Sam and Avery Bonlender.

Despite facing numerous health challenges over the last decade of his life, James displayed remarkable strength and an unwavering positive spirit. Even through difficult days he never complained, choosing instead to embrace each day with gratitude and a generous heart.

James’ family would like to extend a special thank you to the medical staff at Waupun Memorial Hospital and especially to the nurses and doctors in the SICU Unit at Froedtert Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion. His family would also like to thank the staff at Randolph Health Services for their loving care of James since February of 2019.

In lieu of flowers, James’ family would like to invite everyone to donate to DAV.org in his honor.

For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on the day- and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4: 6-8 NIV

A celebration of James’ life will occur at a later date.
