Irene Nellie Van Loo

Irene Nellie Van Loo, age 95 of Randolph, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Randolph Health Services.

Irene was born on March 4, 1928, in the town of Randolph, Columbia County, daughter of Dick and Gertie (Schaalma) Vander Woude. She graduated from the Randolph Christian School in East Friesland and attended Randolph High School. Irene was united in marriage to Alvin Van Loo on March 31, 1948, in Randolph. Together they farmed together for 46 years in the Randolph area. She was a stay-at-home mom caring for their five children and for 17 years she was also “mom” to an older brother, Peter.  Irene had a big heart and volunteered for Dodge County delivering meals to shut-ins for 25 years and she received the Jefferson Award from WKCW.  She enjoyed reading, puzzles, baking banana bread and sending greeting cards to close friends and family. Irene was a charter member of Second Christian Reformed Church of Randolph. She was a former Sunday School teacher and faithful member of Lydia Society.

Irene is survived by her son, David (Rosemary) Van Loo of TN; daughters, Gretchen (Mike) Blish of Randolph, Eloise (Brian) Boersema of MI and Betty (Vernon) Boon of WA; nine grandchildren, Michelle Bahr, Sherri Van Loo, Bradley Van Loo, Matthew Blish, Heidi (Cal) Hemling, Shawn (Hailee) Boersema, Kent (Victoria) Boersema, Stacy Castro, and Ryan Boon; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin Van Loo in June of 2023; her son, Allan in 1973; daughter in-law, Mary Van Loo; parents; siblings; and in-laws.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Second Christian Reformed Church, 332 Tamarack Street, Randolph, WI 53956.

A funeral Service for Irene will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, at church with Pastor Keith Buist officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Cemetery.

Memorials may be established in Irene’s name at Randolph Christian School, 457 Second Street, Randolph, WI 53956.
