Howard "Howie" Douglas Vanshaick

Howard Douglas VanSchaick age 93, passed away on January 22, 2022.

Howard was born on December 12, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois, son of Joseph and Pauline (Schloz) Van Schaick. Howie grew up in Des Plaines, Illinois and raised his family in Mt. Prospect, IL. He graduated from Maine Township High School and continued his education at Grinnell College and George Washington University School of Business from 1950-1954. Howie entered into service with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and served from 1950-1953. On April 7, 1951, Howie was united in marriage to his college sweetheart, Doris Jones. They moved to White Sails in Green Lake, WI, in 1985.  He retired at the age of 65 from the steel industry. Howie was an avid reader and enjoyed boating and swimming. He was a member of Federated Church of Green Lake. Howie was a loving husband, father, Papa and great Papa; he will be deeply missed by many.

Howie is survived by his wife Doris of 70 years; daughter, Cory (Harry) Kantrovich; two sons, Clinton (Marcia) Van Schaick and Robert (Elizabeth) Van Schaick; four grandchildren, Randi (William) Gutschick, Justin (Cheryl) Van Schaick, Andrea Kantrovich and Garrett Van Schaick; four great grandchildren, Kaiden Gutschick, Oliver Van Schaick, Sonny Van Schaick and Rylee Gutschick; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a great granddaughter in infancy, Ruth Van Schaick.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
