Helene G. Mueller, age 91, of Randolph, passed away peacefully with family at her side March 2 nd , 2023, at Eagles Wings Assisted Living Facility in Beaver Dam.
Helene was born in Neisse, Germany, the daughter of Ernst and Martha Scholz. As a young girl and survivor of WW2, her and her family became refugees, as they were driven out of their home in Neisse by Russian forces. Settling in North Central West Germany, she had met her husband Andreas after the war. They married in Salzhausen, Germany in 1950. They then immigrated to the United States, harboring at Ellis Island with their son, being the first of 6 of some 500 displaced persons/families to then arrive in Wisconsin under a sponsorship program. Here they started their life as farm help in Columbus, and then later moved to Randolph with her family. Helene devoted her life to her husband and children. Helene worked seasonal jobs as her children were growing to help with family expenses. She was a meticulous woman, and showed great care for everything she had. She loved the beauty of the flowers Andreas planted and enjoyed cooking and preparing the vegetables and fruits he grew. She loved to listen to her assortment of German music. She also loved and missed her family abroad, and with letters, phone calls, and a few trips home, she was able to stay connected.
She is now eternally connected with her husband, Andreas, granddaughter Stacy Lynn DeBoer, and her parents Ernst and Martha Scholz. She is also preceded in death by all of her siblings, Ursula, Hanne, Fritz, Greta, Magda, Rudi, and Guenther. Helene will be sadly missed but her legacy, strength, and perseverance will be remembered and passed on for family generations to come.
Helene is survived by her son, Juergen (Virginia) Mueller; daughters, Barbara (Larry) Huettl and Hannelore Mueller (Rick Nelson): grandchildren, Teresa (Randy) Connell and their two children Riley and Colton, Candace Nieman, and her three children Emily, Olivia, and Isabel, Andrea (Josh) Meyer and their two children Grant and Paige, Samuel (Mary) Kok and their two children Joseph and Ella, Curt (Danyelle) DeBoer and their daughter Evelyne, Tasha (Nick) Niemi and their three children Abigail, Oliver, and Adelaide, and extended family, Alicia Nelson (Rollie Keel) and their son Griffin, Nate Nelson (Liz Gilson). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews in Germany.
Helene was a devoted Christian and a member of Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church for 70 years and rarely missed a service until her recent years.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 6 th at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church in Randolph. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
