Gordon Riel

Gordon Riel, age 80 of Waupun, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at ManorCare in Fond du Lac.

Gordon was born on October 26, 1937, a son of Jake and Johanna (Schears) Riel. On July 31, 1954, he was united in marriage to Jean Zimmerman in Brandon, WI. Gordon enjoyed hunting, fishing and all nature related activities. He cherished his motorcycle rides with his wife Jean and spending time with family. Gordon was a generous man with a big heart, who gave to anyone in need. He was a member of First Reformed Church in Waupun. Throughout his battle with Alzheimer's Disease, Gordon had an unfailing faith in the Lord.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Jean Riel of Waupun; four children, Carol (Robert) DeHaan of Waupun, Susan (Rick) Schmidt of Ripon, Stephanie (fiancé, Tim Lamie) Zastrow of Markesan and David (Diane) Riel of Ripon; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Gordon Perry; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Minnie (Warren) Heideman, Jessie Perry and Marie Riel; 3 brothers, Jim (Laverne) Riel, Dick (Fern) Riel and George (Mary) Riel.

Visitation for Gordon will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of service on Friday, January 19, 2018, at First Reformed Church, 422 West Franklin Street, Waupun.

A Funeral Service for Gordon will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 19, 2018, at church with Pastor Barry Lang officiating.

A memorial fund has been established in Gordon’s name.
