Gerald Victor Hunter, age 96 of Dalton, passed away on December 26, 2024, at the Markesan Resident Home.
Jerry was born on January 8, 1928, in Marquette County, son of Ernest and Winnie (Morgan) Hunter. He was united in marriage to Darlene Radtke on August 2, 1952, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Princeton, WI. A devoted farmer, he spent his life cultivating the land and embracing the beauty of nature. He took pride in his farming lifestyle, where the earth was both a workplace and a canvas for his tireless efforts. Jerry had a passion for the great outdoors, loving nothing more than hunting pheasants, geese, and deer. The thrill of the hunt was just one of the many pleasures that filled his life. Known for his skill at the card table, he found joy in the laughter and friendships, where stories and bonds were built over a simple deck of cards. Jerry was a devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church in Dalton, always ready to lend a hand or share a kind word. His faith guided him through life, illustrating that love, community, and fellowship are foundational treasures.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Hunter, daughter, Bonnie (George) Chapman, and two sons, Kenneth (Cindy) Hunter and Jamie (Louise) Hunter. A proud grandfather, Jerry enjoyed the company of his eight grandchildren: Brian (Jeanine) Hunter, Jason (Julie) Chapman, Heather (Rodney) Kratz, Melissa (Wade) Prater, Mandie (Malcom) Crennell, Brandie (David) Thrall, Bobie Sue Hunter, and Sarrey (Josh) Steuck, twelve great-grandchildren, as well as one great great-grandson. All of his grandchildren brought immense joy to his life. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
