Evelyn Meekma
Evelyn Pauline Meekma age 95, of Randolph, went to be with her heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Randolph Health Services.
Evelyn was born on July 14, 1923, in Cambria, Columbia County, daughter of Fred and Tena (Haima) Leystra. She was united in marriage to William Meekma on October 24, 1941, in Friesland at the First Reformed Church. Evelyn and her husband lived in Dodge County where they farmed until 1983. She enjoyed sewing, baking, reading and visiting with family and friends. Evelyn was a longtime member of the First Reformed Church of Randolph, Ladies Guild for more than 50 years and taught Bible Class for many years.
Evelyn is survived by her four children, Nancy (Louis) Jung of Beaver Dam, William (Jane) Meekma of Waukesha, Gerald (Karen) Meekma of Randolph and Anthony (Jane) Meekma of Platteville; eight grandchildren, Diane (William) Sorenson, Debra (friend Eddie Hobson) Jung, Sarah Meekma, Benjamin (Katie) Meekma, Matthew Meekma, Aaron (friend Danielle Clark) Meekma, Kelli (John) Weichelt, Alex Meekma; nine great grandchildren, Gavin Sorenson, Skylur Hobson, Canyon Hobson, Cheyenne Hobson Jackson Meekma, Addison Meekma, Arianna Meekma, Finn Weichelt, Nora Weichelt; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Leystra , Dorothy Leystra and Tillie Vander Werff, brother-in-law Ted (Evelyn) Meekma, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband William of fifty-six years, parents, seven siblings, nine in-laws.
Visitation for Evelyn will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 17, 2018, at First Reformed Church, 406 South High Street, Randolph.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. at the church on Monday, September 17th, with Pastor Al Pruis officiating. Burial will take place at the Randolph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Reformed Church Memorial Fund or Beaver Dam Hillside Home Care and Hospice.
