Eugene Robert Carlin, age 84 of Randolph, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at Columbus Community Hospital.
Gene was born on August 27, 1933, in Columbus, a son of Bernard and Mary (McCray) Carlin. On March 14, 1992, he was united in marriage to Karryl Ramthun in Madison, WI. Gene loved aviation and enjoyed flying his plane in his younger years. He and Karryl went on many trips and traveled all over. Some of Gene’s favorite pastimes included fishing, gardening and spending time with family and friends. He especially loved his dogs, Rocky and Buddy.
Gene is survived by his wife, Karryl Carlin of Randolph; his four children, Patrick (Kristina) Carlin of Wisconsin Rapids, Michael Carlin (Lisa Lord) of Deforest, Shannon Zitlow (John Sanderson) of Deforest and Christopher Carlin (Jackie Masta) of Black Earth; four step-children, Kathleen Davis (Tom Derse) of Sun Prairie, Linda Moore of Randolph, David (Roma) Ramthun of Claremore, OK, and Mark (Luci) Ramthun of Dodgeville; three grandchildren, Joshua & Hannah Carlin and Sophia Zitlow; five step-grandchildren, Clayton & Carson Davis, Aaron & Noah Ramthun and David Robert Ramthun; a sister-in-law, Marge Carlin of Randolph; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Stewart, his parents and eight siblings.
Visitation for Gene will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Annunciation Catholic Parish, 305 Green Street, Fox Lake.
A funeral Mass for Gene will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at church with Rev. John Radetski officiating.
A memorial fund has been directed to the Lost Lake-Randolph Historical Society.
