Doris Anne Van Schaick (Jones) age 93, passed away on January 27, 2022.
Doris was born on November 11, 1928, in Oak Park, Illinois, daughter of John and Mary (Evans) Jones. Doris grew up in Oak Park, Illinois. She was a graduate of Oak Park River Forest High School, and graduated from Grinnell College, with a degree in Sociology. On April 7, 1951, Doris was united in marriage to her college sweetheart, Howard Van Schaick. Doris was a domestic engineer and together with Howard raised their family in Mt. Prospect, Illinois. Doris was an active member of the Community Presbyterian Church. She expressed her love and appreciation of music as a member of the church choir for many years. Doris and Howard moved to White Sails on Green Lake, WI, in 1985. Doris was an active member of the Green Lake community, the Federated Church and the PEO chapter D.P. Doris enjoyed singing, reading, swimming and gardening. In their retirement years, Doris and Howard enjoyed traveling the country in their RV. Through their travels, Doris continued another passion that of painting scenic views.
Doris was proud of her Welsh heritage, and was guided in life by her strong faith and love of family. She was a loving wife, mother, Gramma and great Gramma; she will be deeply missed by many.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Cory (Harry) Kantrovich; two sons, Clinton (Marcia) VanSchaick and Robert (Elizabeth) Van Schaick; four grandchildren, Randi (William) Gutschick, Justin (Cheryl) Van Schaick, Andrea Kantrovich and Garrett Van Schaick; four great grandchildren, Kaiden Gutschick, Oliver Van Schaick, Sonny Van Schaick and Rylee Gutschick; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Doris was preceded in death by Howard, her husband of 70 years, her parents, sister, Elaine (Carl) Reichert (Jones) and a great granddaughter in infancy, Ruth Van Schaick.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
