Donald Griggel

Don Griggel, age 88 of Randolph, passed away on Sunday, March 17. Don was born May 25, 1930 in Wausau. He was the son of August “Gus”, and Ruth (Wiren) Griggel. Don was united in marriage to Mary Janice “Mitzi” Miller on June 10, 1950. Mitzi preceded him in death on June 3, 2018, one week shy of their 68 th wedding anniversary. During their many years together, Don and Mitzi enjoyed traveling, taking long motorcycle rides, and visiting with friends, and family. But more than anything, they loved being with each other, and were rarely apart. They also worshiped at the Annunciation Catholic Parish of Fox Lake. Don was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, and fishing throughout the United States, and Canada. He also loved to garden, and share the fruits and vegetables with friends. Don worked as a senior field service engineer at Busse/SJI Corporation for 42 years. He retired in 1997, but continued as a consultant with Busse/SJI until 2017, at the age of 86. Don was very involved in the Randolph community, and is a past fire chief with the Randolph Fire Department.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Ruth, and his sister, Cathleen “Kaye” Tietz. He is survived by his son, Steve Griggel, and his wife, Angie of Sheboygan; his daughter, Cindy Griggel-Delozier, and her husband Dave of Verona; four grandchildren, Andy Griggel, and his wife Anna of Portland, Oregon; Adam Griggel of McFarland; Jenny Griggel of Atlanta, Georgia; Dakota Delozier of Littleton, Colorado; and two great-grandchildren, Lincoln Griggel of McFarland; and Dakota Delozier, Jr. of Littleton, Colorado.

A celebration of the lives of Don and Mitzi will be held in Randolph at a future date to be announced.
