Donald Raymond Froehlich, age 88 of Friesland, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Randolph Health Services.
Don was born on July 28, 1935, in the Township of Randolph, Wisconsin, the son of Jess and Bertha (Kowald) Froehlich. He attended Friesland Grade School through 8th grade and graduated from Randolph High School in 1953. Don was united in marriage to Lois Schave on May 29, 1955, at First Presbyterian Church in Cambria. They celebrated 60 years of marriage. Together they operated a dairy farm in the village of Friesland. In 2001, Don retired from farming and went to work at Jungs Genetics and had a lawn mowing business. In 2010, Don retired from Jungs and become caretaker of his wife until her passing on March 29, 2016. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was baptized on October 6,1935, confirmed on April 10,1949 and served on the church council. Don was an avid Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin basketball and football fan.
Don is survived by his children, Cindy (John) Pierce, Diane (Paul) Vander Galien, James (Chris Berger) Froehlich and Donald J. (Marsha) Froehlich; grandchildren, Katie (Ryan), Val (RJ), Elizabeth (Paul), David (Sarah), Aaron, Matt (Molly) and Justin (Nikki); step grandchildren, Vincent (Rachel), Katie (Tim), Isaac (Hillary), Fred (Stephanie) Tracy, Jeff and Karen (Sam) ; great-grandchildren, Jameson, Averie, Hannah, Solomon, Evelyn, Brantley, Lindsey, Abigail and Everett; step great-grandchildren, Seth, Sam, Megan, Jon, William, Tristen, Aurora, Ellie, Christopher, Samantha, Liana (Matt) and Jacob; step great-great-grandchildren, Brynlee with one on the way in May; sister, Marion Jacobson; sisters-in-law, Emily Froehlich, Donna (Herb) Schraepfer and Laurie Hamilton. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents; brother, Norm Froehlich; sister, Audrey (William) Rupnow; brothers-in-law, Darryl Jacobson, Lyle Schave and Ray Hamilton; sister-in-law, Virginia (George) Deakin; daughter-in-law, Debra Froehlich and niece, Deborah Rupnow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
A private family service will be held.
