Donald L Casey

Donald L. Casey age 81, of Markesan, WI, formerly from Oglesby, IL passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, WI.

He was born on August 14, 1940, in Spring Valley, IL, the son of Donald and Shirley Casey.

He worked and retired as a welder from Caterpillar in Aurora, IL. After his retirement, Don kept busy working various construction and roofing jobs. Don loved bowling and was a member of the 300 club and various bowling leagues. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Markesan, WI. He was an avid hunter and fishermen and known by many as “The Turtle Man”. Don had a zest for life and fought valiantly for many years with several types of cancer. He was looking forward to turkey hunting this spring and had many more fish to catch.

He is survived by his daughter, April (Bill) Casey-Reaska of Lake Thunderbird, IL; son, Darren (Mary) Casey of Granville, IL and step-son Ryan (Mandy) Bernhagen of OshKosh, WI; sisters, Judi Casey of LaSalle, IL and Diana (Rodger) Brandstatter, of Hennepin, IL; special friend, Vicki Bernhagen of Markesan, WI; grandchildren, Zachary (Emily) Radtke of Dubuque, IA, Samantha (Ryan) Kohr of Woodland Park, Colorado, Tara and Christina Casey of Granville, IL and step-grandchildren, Josie and Ella Bernhagen of OshKosh, WI., Chelsea (Jacob) Creviston, Sydney (Sean) Jones of Georgia, Adam and Dean Reaska of England and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Don and Shirley Casey; his brother, William Casey and sisters, Beverly Dean and Marjorie Skutt.

Memorial service will be at 6:00 p.m. on May 20 ^th at Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville.  Cremation rites have been accorded.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
