Delmer Slager, age 77 of Cambria, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2019, at Randolph Health Services.
Dick was born on January 13, 1942, in Cambria, the son of Henry and Tena (Alsum) Slager. On October 22, 1966, he was united in marriage to Julienne Daye at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Friesland. Dick farmed with his dad and worked at Friday Canning Company and PMI in Markesan for over 30 years. He also worked for Dumke Bros, farming for many years and for Columbia County – Town of Scott Recycling Center until he fractured his left ankle. Dick enjoyed listening to music, being outdoors, working on vehicles and going to Denise’s Café on Saturday mornings to meet with friends. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Dick is survived by his wife of 52 years, Julienne Slager of Cambria; a daughter, Mary (Matt Wilson) Medina of Cambria; a granddaughter, Emily Medina of Cambria; a sister, Marilyn (Robert) Rhodes of Beaver Dam; a sister-in-law, Linda (Wayne) VanderGalien of Randolph; a brother-in-law, Jim Daye of Cambria; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Amy Jo in 1980.
Visitation for Dick will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 18, 2019, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 101 First Street, Friesland.
A funeral service for Dick will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 18, 2019, at church with Pastor John Hildebrant officiating. Burial will follow at Friesland Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been directed to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and Hillside Hospice in Beaver Dam.
