David Lee Elmer Jahnke, age 81 of Markesan, passed away peacefully the morning of Saturday, October 29, 2022, at home.
David was born in Westfield on September 21, 1941, a son of Elmer and Martha (Zorn) Jahnke. He grew up in Westfield and was a graduate of Westfield High School, class of 1959. During high school, he started his career in meat cutting at Eubanks Store in Westfield and continued that career until retiring. David was united in marriage to Terryl Kruger on June 29, 1963, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Westfield. Dave enjoyed hunting and fishing, which included trips to Canada. He also enjoyed playing softball, dartball and bowling. Dave and Terry took their family up north for many vacations with family and friends.
Dave is survived by his wife, Terry Jahnke of 59 years; three sons, Doug (Julie) Jahnke, Jeff Jahnke, Jamie (Will) Jahnke; daughter, Dana Jahnke; grandchildren Justin and Julia Jahnke; brothers, Thomas (Karen) Jahnke and Terrance (Charlene) Jahnke; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ron Jahnke; in-laws and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 65 West Catherine Street, Markesan.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 4, with Rev. Jason Jobs officiating.
Private burial will take place at a later date.
The family wishes to thank the Markesan EMT’s, officer Cody McLean, Theda Care Hospice, Pastor Jobs, and all the family and friends that supported them during this time.
