Dale Arthur Schreiber, age 71 of Markesan passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Dale was born on December 17, 1946, son of Harold and Lorraine (Karau) Schreiber. He was united in marriage to Georgia Hannah on January 31, 1970, at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Markesan. Dale loved history, genealogy, fishing, hunting and trapping. He loved to dance and teach contra and troika dances. Dale was on the Markesan School Board for several years and lifetime member of Markesan Historical Society. He was a member of the Grand River Valley 4-H Club, poultry and rabbit 4-H leader. Dale was a superintendent of poultry and rabbit building at the Green Lake County Fair for several years. Dale and his family hosted rabbit and poultry shows and Holiday Christmas Festivals for about 15 years and 14 years with Folk Dance Workshops as well as volunteering at numerous Holiday Folk Balls and Festivals. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Beaver Dam.
Dale is survived by his wife Georgia; sons, Juan Schreiber of Waupun, Gustav Schreiber of Waupun, Jared Schreiber of Markesan and Aaron (fiancé Amy and her daughter Zoei) Schreiber of Markesan and daughter Sarah (Mark) Crane of New Hampshire; grandchildren, Cynthia (fiancé Zachary) of Indiana, Jared Jr. of Texas, Ciara Schreiber of Watertown and Matthew of New Hampshire; 4 cousins, Ben (Gail) Karau, Raymond (Debbie) Karau, Roger Karau, Helen (Tom) Karau all of Oshkosh; in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles and in-laws.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at Markesan Community Funeral Home, 868 North Margaret Street, Markesan and on Thursday, December 6, 2018, from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
A funeral service for Dale will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 6, 2018, at Markesan Community Funeral Home officiated by President Jed Harris of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Followed by a luncheon prepared by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Relief Society of Beaver Dam. Burial to follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, town of Scott.
Memorial fund to be established in Dale’s name.
Family would like to thank Theda Care of Berlin and Appleton Hospitals staff and doctors and Southern Hospice Care of Fond du Lac for their wonderful care given to Dale the last few days of his life.
