Constance "Connie" June Alsum

Constance June Alsum, age 45 of Madison, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, at the UW Hospital in Madison. 

Connie was born in Beaver Dam on July 9, 1979, daughter of Ronald and Kathleen (Herfort) Alsum. She graduated from Randolph Grade School and completed her high school education at Columbus High School. Her academic journey continued at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater, where she pursued her passion for the arts. Connie also embraced her love for performing, taking center stage as an actress at Encore Studio for the Performing Arts.

Connie's personality was as vibrant as her laugh; she was known for her spunk and determination. Although her life was spent in a wheelchair and limited vision presented challenges, Connie remained opinionated and full of life. She had a remarkable ability to recount her life experiences, including how many bones she had broken over the years—each story filled with both humor and resilience. Throughout her journey, she managed to navigate her circumstances gracefully, having gone through five different wheelchairs, each a testament to her vigorous spirit and willpower.

Connie is survived by her father, Ron Alsum; her grandmother, Marion Alsum; uncle, Philip Herfort; cousins, Anthony and Katrina Herfort; further survived by other relatives and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathy Alsum; her grandfather, Gerrit Alsum; great grandparents; and her beloved aunts, Patricia Alsum and Cheryl Herfort.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, at the Friesland Community Church, located at 107 East Winnebago Street, Friesland, Wisconsin with Pastor Darrin Vant Hoff officiating. Burial will take place at Friesland Cemetery.
