Byron John Kamphuis

Byron John Kamphuis, age 74 of Waupun, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.

Byron was born on January 31, 1944, in Fond du Lac, a son of Otto and Ramona (Hoekstra) Kamphuis. In 1962, he graduated from Waupun Christian High School. On June 17, 1974 he was united in marriage to Kathleen Rake in Las Vegas, NV. He enjoyed going for motorcycle rides with his wife and traveling. Byron’s favorite pastimes included spending time with his grandkids, golfing, staying busy and working as well as reading. He also really enjoyed dog sitting for his grand dog, Sophie. Byron was a member of the American Legion Post 210.

Byron is survived by his wife, Kathy of Waupun; four children, Dawn (Mark) Rohr of Waupun, Jamie Rake of Waupun, Jennifer (Jason) Morgan of Fond du Lac and Nicole Kamphuis of Oshkosh; two grandchildren, Lucas and Makenna Morgan; six siblings, Margaret (Martin) Miedema of Waupun, Karen (Robert) Slager of CA, Wanda (James) Zatopa of IL, Orville (Gail) Kamphuis of Fond du Lac, Alan (Cena) Kamphuis of Waupun and Kay (Paul) Marose of Juneau; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation for Byron will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun and on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service at First Christian Reformed Church, 20 Bly Street, Waupun.

A funeral service for Byron will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at church with Al Venhuizen officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.

A memorial fund has been established in Byron’s name.
