Betty Jane Ver Meer, age 90, passed away with family at her side on Monday, August 28, 2017, at Markesan Resident Home in Markesan.

Betty was born on December 30, 1926, in Oshkosh, a daughter of Herman and Leona (Roeder) Zitlow. She attended Oshkosh High School. Betty was united in marriage to Richard Ver Meer on May 9, 1947, in Brandon, WI. She was a member of Bethel Reformed Church of Brandon. Betty worked at the Best Western in Ripon for 11 years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed writing letters and visiting with others. Betty loved cooking and baking for family and friends and was a great caregiver. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed.

Betty is survived by her daughter Barbara (Dennis) Beier of Princeton; daughter-in-law Karen Parker- Vermeer; three grandchildren, Russell (Dan Hershberger) Beier; Stephanie (Paul) Borst and Jamison (Kristy) Vermeer; four great grandchildren, Michael Borst, Zachary Beier, Avery Borst and Steven Vermeer; two sisters-in-law, Sophie Evans and Mary Zitlow; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, son Steven Vermeer; two sisters, Dorothy Schobloski and Doris Scholz; two brothers, Donald and Duwayne Zitlow and brother in infancy.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Bethel Reformed Church, Brandon.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at Bethel Reformed Church, 305 West Main Street, Brandon, with Pastor John Tilstra officiating. Burial will follow in the Brandon Cemetery.
