Bette Jane Lienhard

Bette Jane Lienhard, age 96, of Oshkosh, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Courtyard of Oshkosh. Born in Cambria, WI on December 30, 1927, she was the daughter of Albert and Elsie (Kath) Schlaitzer. A graduate of Waupun High School, Bette married Loran Lienhard on October 15, 1949, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fox Lake. A longtime resident of Waupun, Bette and Loran served as custodians at Pella Lutheran Church for fifteen years. She was actively involved in the women’s group and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Pella Lutheran for many years. In 2009, Bette and Loran moved to the Oshkosh area and joined the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Bette enjoyed word search puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and cherished visits from her great-grandchildren.

Bette is survived by her three sons, Glen (Iris) Lienhard of Oshkosh; Mark (Kris Mathison) Lienhard of Two Rivers; and Steven Lienhard of AZ; four grandchildren, Jason (Jesa) Lienhard, Bryan (Jeanna) Lienhard, Ian (Darcy) Lienhard, and Beth (Bradley Elvers) Lienhard; and eight great-grandchildren, Emilia, Clive, Sydney, and Thatcher Lienhard; Shelby and Livia Lienhard; and Reylyn and Zoey Elvers. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Violet (Jerry) Slot of Decatur, IL, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Loran Lienhard; daughter-in-law, Kathy Lienhard; sister, Norma (Russell) Schultz; brother, Delbert Schlaitzer; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Oshkosh, with Pastor Greg Koepsell officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Thursday at the church. A memorial fund has been established in Bette’s name.
