Berwyn Francis Huizenga

Berwyn Francis Huizenga, age 86 of Randolph, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Randolph Health Services.

Berwyn was born on February 23, 1933, in Friesland, WI, a son of John and Elsie (Douma) Huizenga. He attended Calvin College and enlisted in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 as a cook. On October 1, 1954, he was united in marriage to Geraldine Veldhuis in Ravenna, Michigan. Berwyn lived in Grand Rapids with his family working at Steelcase as a cook for 17 years until moving to Wisconsin to farm. He enjoyed organic farming and gardening. Berwyn was a member of Randolph Protestant Reformed Church.

Berwyn is survived by his wife, Geraldine Huizenga of Randolph; 7 children, Vivian Huizenga of Germany, Dixie (Jay) Dreyer of Grand Rapids, MI, Carl (Kathy) Huizenga of Fox Lake, Valerie (Hank) Kamphuis of PEI, Canada, Sharon Waakles of Hudsonville, MI, John (Jeanine) Huizenga of Hull, IA and Brent (Shannon) Huizenga of Randolph; 24 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Clyde (Ellen) Huizenga of CA and Bruce (Leann) Huizenga of Beaver Dam; 1 sister-in-law, Pat Huizenga of Randolph; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tony Huizenga.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 1, 2019, at Randolph Protestant Reformed Church, 229 Hammond Street, Randolph.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 1, 2019, at church with Rev. Erik Guichelaar officiating. Burial will take place at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at Kent Memorial Gardens in Byron Center, MI, with Professor Kuiper officiating.

A memorial fund has been directed to Faith Christian School.
