Bernice Kok, age 90, of Waupun and formerly of Alto went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 30, 2017.
She was born June 6, 1926, one of five daughters to the late Edward & Elizabeth (Vant Hoff) Loomans, in the Town of Alto. On Oct 3, 1947, she married Charles Kok, and they lived in the Alto area for most of their life together. Charles preceded her in death in 2007. Bernice worked as a lab technician at the Alto Co-op Creamery (now Saputo Cheese) for many years, retiring in 1989. She was an active member of the Alto Reformed Church for most of her life, singing with the Choir, teaching Sunday school, Bible class and, for many years making sure there were fresh flowers in the Sanctuary for Sunday services.
Bernice is survived by her children, Larry (Donna) Kok, Alto; their children, Cory (Trisha) Kok, Shana (Brian) Meidam, and Sheila (Jeremy) Weis; Bethany (Mark) Vande Kolk, Appleton; their children, Ryan (Sarah) Vande Kolk, Michele Vande Kolk and Holly Vande Kolk; and Jeffrey Kok, Beaver Dam; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Brielle, Grant, Alayna, Landon, Ava, and Haylee; sisters, Beverly (Bob) Kastein and Charlene (Jim) Kamphuis and a brother-in-law, Bernie Bille.
Bernice was also preceded in death by a son, Harlan, a great-granddaughter, Briana Meidam, and two sisters, Marge Zacharias and Catherine Bille.
The funeral service for Bernice will be held 6:00 P.M. at the Alto Reformed Church, Alto on Friday, June 2, 2017 with the Pastor Ted Medema and Pastor Kevin Van Wyk officiating. Interment will be in the Alto Cemetery. Bernice’s family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 4:30 until 5:45 P.M. with the service to follow.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been directed to the Christian Homestead, 1001 West Brown Street, Waupun.
