Amber Edith Zills

Amber Edith Zills, age 86, of Waupun, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022, at her home with family at her side.

Amber was born in Fond du Lac, on November 14, 1935, daughter of William and Alma (Schmidt) Mielke. She attended Climax School Town of Trenton, South Ward and Waupun High School, and Dodge County Teacher College, Mayville. As a child Amber lived in rural Waupun, and later moved into Waupun. She was united in marriage to Otto Zills on May 19, 1956, and together they farmed in the Town of Byron by Oakfield. In 1961, they moved to rural Waupun and they raised St. Bernard Dogs for 48 years. She was a past member of Dodge County Community Concert, Treasure PTO, Fox Lake School, and a 4-H leader, taught school at Oak Lawn, Waupun and was Principal at Brownsville School. Amber gave organ and piano lessons for many years. To the glory of her Lord, she served as organist at Pella Lutheran, County Line Lutheran, and many other local churches, she also taught Sunday school. Amber was AFS host parent from 1977-1978 to Mercia Antig of the Philippines. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite past time was playing organ, knitting, crocheting, sewing, raising flowers and cooking.  Amber was a member of Pella Lutheran Church in Waupun.

Amber is survived by her son, Clete (Charlene) Zills; three grandchildren, Courtney (Andrew) Twardokus, Candis (Brandon) Breitkreutz and Christal (Andrew) Hopfensperger; two great grandchildren, Esther and Gabriel Twardokus; nieces, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Otto Zills of 62 years and parents.

Visitation for Amber was held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 13, 2022, at Pella Lutheran Church 315 South Madison Street, Waupun.

A funeral service for Amber was held at 11:00 a.m. at church will Rev. David Knuth officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Garden.
