Amanda Jane Wegner, age 41 of Markesan, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 28, 2022.
Amanda was born on September 1, 1981, in Berlin, WI, daughter of Carl and Jane (Semrow) Wegner. She
graduated from Markesan High School, class of 2000, and later worked in the office of the family business, Wegner Automotive.
Mandy touched many lives with her generosity, kind heart and fun-loving spirit. Her smile could light up a room and she loved making people laugh with her silly sense of humor. She was the most thoughtful gift-giver and found great joy in making people smile with the perfect gift. Mandy was also an expert chef and truly loved to cook and bake, especially for family and friends. She would spend countless exhausting hours in the kitchen to be sure what she was making was an absolute masterpiece. She was always imagining creative and delicious ways to improve every recipe and her dishes could easily put both professional chefs and five star restaurants to shame. Mandy also enjoyed going on weekend camping trips, UTV rides, and to music concerts with her friends, and the love of her life, Chris.
Mandy found happiness in simply spending time with those she cared about most; Chris, her family and her friends meant the world to her. She was a beautiful person inside and out, a perfect and unforgettable combination of fiery spirit and big heart. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Amanda is survived by her significant other, Chris Lawson and his two sons, Thomas and Tyler; mother,
Jane Wegner; brother, Casey (Amber) Wegner; niece and nephews, Bryson, Amaya and Kian; two aunts,
Sherrill Smith and Kathleen Schulz; uncle, Richard (Kathy) Semrow; further survived by her lifelong best
friend Christy (Andy) Lawson and their two children Ciera and Jabin, along with her fur babies, Josie, Jasper and Lexi; cousins, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Wegner in 2019; maternal grandparents, George and
Dorothy Semrow, paternal grandparents, Raymond and Marge Wegner, and her fur babies Shelby and Chloe.
Visitation for Mandy will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022, at Markesan Community Funeral Home, 868 North Margaret Street, Markesan, WI. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. on December 16, 2022, at Markesan Community Funeral Home with Fr. Dale Grubba officiating.
Mandy loved holidays; whether it be cooking a feast for her family and friends or dressing up for Halloween with her pug Shelby to entertain the trick-or-treaters and hand out candy. But her most favorite holiday was Christmas. The family invites you to bring an ornament, new or already well loved, so that they can decorate a special tree in Mandy’s honor this Christmas.
