Alan Thomas De Vries, age 70, of Cambria passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Marshview Medical Center in Beaver Dam with family at his side.
Alan was born on December 3, 1953, in Beaver Dam, son of Peter and Nina (Tamminga) De Vries. He was united in marriage to Cindy Alsum on May 30, 1981. He was a man of God who lived his faith every day. He persevered through many health challenges and leaned on his steadfast faith and his Lord and Savior who helped him through. Al enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was yard work or cleaning his car. He was employed with Adams Transit for 50 years, retiring in January of 2023. Al was a member of Friesland Community Church.
Alan is survived by his wife, Cindy De Vries of Cambria; two sons, Stephen (Lesley) De Vries of Nolensville, TN and Michael (Kailyn) De Vries of Reedsburg; four granddaughters, Mia, Scarlett, Carmen and Hazel De Vries; two sisters, Justine Boomsma and Pat Pothof, both of Randolph, mother-in-law, Lois Vande Zande of Waupun; sister-in-law, Shelley (Kevin) Wiersma of Cambria, further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harris (Theresa) De Vries; brothers-in-law, James Boomsma and John Pothof; father-in-law, Howard Alsum and Harvey Vande Zande; brother-in-law, Glenn Alsum.
A visitation will be held at the Friesland Community Church, 107 Winnebago Street, Friesland, from 9:00–11:00 AM on Monday, January 15, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 15, 2024, at church with Pastor Darrin Vant Hoff officiating. Burial will take place at the Randolph Cemetery.
