Ronald Arthur Gedamke

Ronald Arthur Gedamke, age 81 of Waupun, passed away peacefully at his home with family by his side Saturday, March 25, 2017.

Ron was born on February 15, 1936 in Mackford, Green Lake County, a son of Oliver and Florence (Boelter) Gedamke. On April 12, 1936 he was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Markesan. In 1941 the family moved to Milwaukee. He attended Emmaus Lutheran School until 8 ^th grade and in 1951 he was confirmed. In 1955 he graduated from Boys’ Technical High School in Milwaukee. He was employed with International Harvester as a machinist. On July 26, 1958 he was united in marriage to Donna Buchholz at Zion Lutheran Church in Kingston, WI. They moved to Waupun in 1963 where they have resided. Ron worked for H.K. Mews Construction, and then for the City of Waupun Street Department until he retired in 1997. Following retirement, they enjoyed traveling and visiting friends in the Western United States. They also enjoyed spending time together at their Cottage. A special memory will always be Grandpa’s fireworks show on the 4 ^th . Ron was a charter member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church and continued to be an active member throughout his life.

Ron is survived by his wife, Donna; three children, Mark (Diana) Gedamke, Marie (Keith) Broadway and Thomas (Julie Collard) Gedamke; five grandchildren, Heather (Joshua) Thone, Joshua (Amanda Finstad) Gedamke, Jason (Chelsea) Gedamke, Jessica (Kyle) Wendlandt and Elizabeth Broadway; two step grandchildren, Dan (Stephanie) Broadway and Julie (Justin) Schmidt; one great grandchild, Oliver Thone; five step great grandchildren, Treyten and Braxten Schmidt, Layla and Landry Broadway and Ashton Waters; a brother, Kenneth (Loretta) Gedamke; two sisters-in-law, Lauretta Helmer and Arlene Werth; one brother-in-law, George (Beverly) Buchholz; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation for Ronald will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from 3:30 P.M. until the hour of service at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 113 North County Park Road, Waupun.

A funeral service for Ronald will be held at 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church with Pastor David Cooper officiating. Burial will take place at Grand View Cemetery, Marquette on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.

The family would like to thank special caregiver Julie Collard for her wonderful care throughout the past several months and Agnesian Hospice for their care and support.
