Elaine Eva Bernhagen, age 73 of Markesan, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at the Barrett House in Markesan.
Elaine was born on July 29, 1943, in Berlin, Wisconsin, a daughter of Lloyd and Alma (Fust) Clark. Elaine attended St. John’s Lutheran and Berlin High School. On April 20, 1963, she was united in marriage to Curtis Bernhagen in Berlin. Elaine worked as a dental assistant for Bill Bush in Berlin for a number of years and the Hitching Post of Manchester for 21 years until she was unable to work due to multiple sclerosis. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Manchester.
Elaine is survived by her two children, Carey (Fred) Stillman of New Hampshire and Andrew (Shelly) Bernhagen of Markesan; three grandchildren, Jesset Bernhagen, Brayden Bernhagen both of Stevens Point and Drew Bernhagen of Markesan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis; sister, Marge (Merle) Kruse and a brother, Ronald (Virginia) Clark.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, W 3377 Main Street, Manchester.
A funeral service for Elaine will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at church with Rev. Michael Plagenz officiating. Burial will follow in the Manchester Cemetery on Proscarian Road.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Barrett House and Agnesian Hospice Hope for the wonderful care.
