Margaret De Vries

March 17, 1925 — February 19, 2017

Margaret De Vries, age 91 of Randolph, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

Margaret was born on March 17, 1925, in Platte, South Dakota, a daughter of Conrad and Jennie (Vanden Bos) Kuipers. Margaret was a graduate of Western Christian High School of Hull, Iowa in 1943. On February 14, 1946, she was united in marriage to John P. De Vries in Platte, South Dakota. Margaret farmed with her husband for many years north of Randolph until retiring in 1981. She was a member of First Randolph Christian Reformed Church of East Friesland for over 70 years. Margaret was a school teacher, homemaker and a member of the Martha’s Circle and ladies aid. She volunteered in the Randolph Community.

Margaret is survived by seven children, Percy (Janice) De Vries of Waupun, Janice Martinez of Yuma, AZ, Marilyn Thomson of Portage, Carol (Dennis) Winkel of Horicon, Juliane (Harlan) Cupery of Randolph, James (Janet) De Vries of Randolph and Eugene (Lori) De Vries of Beaver Dam; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; a sister, Evelyn (Don) Severson of Platte, South Dakota; a brother, Albert (Delores) Kuipers of Platte, South Dakota; two sisters-in-law, Jennie Alsum and Gertrude Hopp; nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; two grandchildren, Dustin and Paula Thomson; two sons-in-law, Mike Piastro and Armando Martinez; two brothers, Henry (Hermina) Kuipers and William (Nellie) Kuipers; numerous in-laws.

Visitation for Margaret will be from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at First Randolph Christian Reformed Church, N9887 East Friesland Road, Randolph.

A funeral service for Margaret will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at First Randolph Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Keith Buist officiating. Burial will follow at Friesland Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Randolph Christian School or First Randolph Christian Reformed Church of Friesland.
