John "Jack" Towne

John Robert Towne, age 89, town of Waupun, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at his residence with family by his side.

John was born on February 22, 1927, Fond du Lac County, a son of Claude and Maude (Frost) Towne. He graduated from Brandon High School in 1944. John was in the United States Army, PFC, 82 ^nd Airborne. On July 31, 1948, he was united in marriage to Betty Shaw at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waupun. John worked in construction throughout his life. At the age of 75, he continued to work with his son, Donald as a cabinet maker. John was a mink rancher for 15 years. He loved reading books, watching his programs on television and seeing the birds and animals in his back yard. John enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family. He was a man of many talents and enjoyed helping others. John was a member of Our Risen Savior Catholic Church, Woodhull of Eldorado.

John is survived by his wife, Betty; four children, Thomas (Dianne) Towne of Rosendale, Joan (Gerald) Milton of Lamartine, Sue Bell of Waupun and Donald (Debra) Towne of Waupun; six siblings, Richard (Jean) Towne of Waupun, Lawrence (Jo Ann) Towne of Lamartine, Jerome (Jane) Towne of Lamartine, Ronald (Joanne) Towne of Fond du Lac, Donna (Fred) Baldwin and Doris (Bernard) Vande Streek both of Fond du Lac; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren and one great-great grandson, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jack had a deep appreciation for his neighbor Scott Towne.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 4:00- 7:00 P.M.at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun and Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Our Risen Savior Catholic Church, Woodhull, Eldorado, beginning at 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service. The Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 A.M.

A funeral Mass for John will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Our Risen Savior Catholic Church, Woodhull, W8272 Forest Avenue Road, Eldorado, WI. Entombment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Fond du Lac.
