Monica Rose Weeden

Monica Rose (Rake) Weeden, age 75 of Madison, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.

Monica was born on January 16, 1941 in Fox Lake, a daughter of Theodore and Eleanor (Wanilista) Rake. She was united in marriage on October 13, 1962 in Waupun. Monica worked as a legal secretary for Barsness Law Office. She enjoyed watching game show network and doing jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, reading and playing solitaire on her Nook. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching the Packers and Badgers.

Monica is survived by two daughters, Shelly (Mike) Leibundgut of New Glarus and Wendy (Dave) Backes of Salina, Kansas; three grandchildren, Danny (Savannah) Backes of Omaha, Nebraska, Elisa Backes and Austin Leibundgut; a sister, Kathy (Byron) Kamphuis of Waupun; a brother, Theodore (Joan) Rake of Florida; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Eleanor (William) Redeker and Paulette Rake.

Visitation for Monica will be from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun.

A funeral service for Monica will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Kohls Community Funeral Home with Rev. John Radetski officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Mary’s Hospital for the care of Monica and support to the family.

A memorial fund has been established in Monica’s name.
