Violet Mae Collar, age 92 of Markesan, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Ripon Medical Center.
Violet was born on November 9, 1924, in Green Lake County, the daughter of George and Martha (Genetz) Hemple. Violet married George Collar on June 19, 1943, at Our Saviour's Church in Ripon, WI. She worked at Ideal Shoe Factory, Fall River Canning factory and was a seasonal truck driver for many years. Violet crocheted many quilts in the past and enjoyed many polka dances in the surrounding area. She was a member of Markesan and Manchester Senior Center and a member of Our Saviour's Church in Ripon.
Violet is survived by her son, Darwin Collar and daughter, Sharon Sauerbrei both of Markesan; sisters, Edna Sina, Delaine Scherer and Donna (Riley) Mincy all of Fond du Lac; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; daughter in infancy; sister Doris (Mack) Johnson; son-in-law Donald Sauerbrei; brothers-in-law Leo Sina and Harold Scherer.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2016 from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. at Markesan Community Funeral Home, 868 North Margaret Street, Markesan.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at Markesan Community Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Kevin Mundell. Burial will follow in the Markesan Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial fund has been established in Violet's name.
