Clarence Douma

Clarence Douma, age 84 of Randolph, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Golden Years Assisted Living in Randolph.

Clarence was born on January 14, 1932, in the town of Randolph, a son of Dewey and Martha (Alsum) Douma. On August 21, 1953 he was united in marriage to Shirley Wiersma. Clarence was a farmer his entire life and for 38 years he was an insurance agent in the Randolph area. Clarence loved to golf with his good friend Jack Smedema and enjoyed traveling. In 1998 he remodeled his barn into a gym where many area youths spent many hours playing. Clarence was a life long member of First Randolph Christian Reformed Church where he served as an elder and a deacon.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Shirley; brothers and sisters, Dorothy Schaalma, Theresa Posthuma, Bessie (Lambert) DeJager, Andrew(Tessie) Douma and Harvey Douma; sisters-in-law Thelma Burmania, Maysel Wiersma and Evelyn Douma; brother-in-law Melvin Hoffman; also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Auke Douma, Gerrit (Margie) Douma and sister Alice Hoffman; brothers-in-law, John Schaalma, Carl Posthuma, John Wiersma and Norman Wiersma.

Visitation for Clarence will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, December 12, 2016 at First Randolph Christian Reformed Church and on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at First Randolph Christian Reformed Church, N8879 East Friesland Road, Friesland.

A funeral service for Clarence will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Church with Rev. Keith Buist officiating. Burial to follow at Friesland Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been directed to the Sunday School Department of First Randolph Christian Reformed Church.
