Arthur Deyoung

September 8, 1927 — October 23, 2016

Arthur DeYoung, 89 was welcomed into Heaven on October 23, 2016, where he passed away peacefully at Golden Living Center- Continental Manor of Randolph.

Arthur was born on September 8, 1927, the son of Charles and Katie DeYoung. On March 12, 1954, he married Gertrude Smedema. Together they were blessed with 28 wonderful years raising their 6 children in the Friesland area. After Gertrude's passing, Arthur met Doloris Schreiber and they were later married on December 25, 1983, and became a blended family of 11.

Arthur served in the United States Army in his younger years. After the service he Co owned DeYoung Brothers Builders with his brothers Newton and John, he had an amazing skill with his hands and could build anything, and really enjoyed doing so. Art spent a lot of his free time hunting and going for walks in the woods behind his house. He was an avid Airplane enthusiast and loved to give rides in his yellow Piper Cub. Art was also very involved in his church. He had a strong faith which showed no matter where he was. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed every minute of having his family around.

Arthur is survived by his wife Doloris and children; Laurie (Scott) Meyer of Milton, LouAnn DeYoung and Joe Kok of Fox Lake, Lisa (Don) Karst of Burnett, Steven (Rochelyn) DeYoung of Portage, Phillip (Clarissa) DeYoung of Allenton, Valerie (Michael) Marshall of Beaver Dam, Paul (Sara) Premus of Amherst, Edward (Jeanna) Premus of Colorado, and Rebecca Premus of Colorado. His grandchildren Sabrina (Mike) Hoeft, Emma (Lee) Mueller, Caleb DeYoung, Colin DeYoung, Samantha DeYoung, Lon DeYoung, Isaac Premus, Nicole Premus, Tasha and Nick Niemi; Sam and Mary Kok; his great grandchildren; Arizona, Brady, Halie and Parker Hoeft, Abigail, Oliver and Adelaide Niemi and Joseph and Ella Kok; sisters; Jeanette Derksen, Frieda (Wyman) VandeZande, Hilda (Donald) DeVries, sister-in-law; Jessie DeYoung and brother-in-law Dave Lemmenes and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Gertrude, his first child Valerie Jean; brothers, Newton, Chester, John and William DeYoung; sisters, Ann Hollander and Dorothy Lemmenes and his in-laws; Carol DeYoung, Clarence Derksen, Marty DeYoung and Helen DeYoung.

A private graveside service will be held with Military Honors present. Memorials may be made to The Badger Honor Flight.
